what is a tri magnetometer station

Picture
The tri magnetometer consists of three independent magnetometers, each run by it's own development computer board which handles the data from the magnetometer which is then transferred wirelessly to the master unit. Each magnetometer is backed up by the other two for a number of reasons such as discrepancies in the data, should one malfunction the other two will continue to deliver data uninterupted and likewise should one be influenced by other electrical or mechanical equipment the data  will still flow from the other two. The system is backed up 3 times, can be sent wirelessly up to 1 killometre away from the collection point ie where the master unit is located, the magnetometors measure in 3 axis X,Y,Z, and through mathematics calulates the heading of the magnetic north poles, the headings are recorded 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days a year, if there is movement of the magnetic pole this station will log when it moved and where it has moved to, and through processing we will display that movement on an easy to understand map, so non technical people can utilise the information. The image on the left is the three tracks, each consisting of the electronics on board the TMS undergoing callibration tests.
